Creating Space came into existence after co-founder Stephen Dalton decided to convert his loft. After a succession of similar sales pitches from seemingly generic loft companies he felt no one was offering a service that really captured his imagination.
The main selling point of many of the companies seemed to be that they had converted hundreds of lofts in one year, but it made Stephen feel like ‘just another customer’. Where was the personal service? Why did they make out his conversion was just one of many? No one seemed to care that this was Stephen’s home – so he decided to set up a team of people who could do the job that he wanted.
The rest, as they say, is history. After teaming up with Daniel Berry, the pair decided to tackle the project together. And with the help of specialist contacts in the building industry, they created the type of company that they would both like to have employed in the first place.
As well as trying to restore the personal touch to their service, Creating Space wanted to explore the environmentally friendly options that make loft conversions not just a great idea, but also useful in the fight against global warming, deforestation, carbon emissions and rising energy costs.
